Hello everybody,
I hope you have been receiving my e-mails of late regarding
incidents that have taken place that day. I hope you feel better informed and I know it is a lot better than waiting for
me to give a police report each month. The police rely on the information provided by the community and you are the people
out there so the better informed you are, hopefully the better the information we will get in return. Remember it is not
a one way street, please e-mail me with anything you feel we should know about.
In the general area of the Wrexham Maelor section we still are suffering from the usual rural
crime i.e. theft of farm gates, theft of scrap metal, theft of garden items such as troughs and hanging baskets. These incidents
are random in their location and appear to take place during the daytime. Unfortunately we have not had any information
to target anybody however we have been continually patrolling the area and delivering our crime prevention advice.
Most villages have now held their annual fetes and carnivals
and I hope you have seen a police presence at them. We have enjoyed attending such events and obviously the glorious weather
of late has helped.
Anti-social behaviour for the
area has dropped which amongst other things is down to the hard work that your two pcso`s - Jemma and Beth do. They work
constantly with the local schools and youth clubs.
The
introduction of OWL ( new neighbourhood watch system ) is playing a big part in quickly relaying information out to the
community. If you are not already signed up then please consider it. You will get information relating to all sorts of incidents
which might effect your area.
We are continuing
to work closely with West Mercia and Cheshire police and building up our cross border intelligence.
Before I go I would like to mention the special constabulary. Some of you are already aware
of the hard work that Dean Hewitt and his family ( wife Maria and son Keifer ) put in on a regular basis.
They are a local family and have been members of the special
constabulary for many years and are always ready to assist regular police officers. Dean and his family often deal with
incidents which are reported directly to them and which never reach the north Wales police control room. Most weekends you
will find Dean and his family out on patrol in and around the area.
Obviously over the years police numbers in the Wrexham Maelor section have dropped off. I know from speaking with
many of you that there would have been a sergeant plus 4 or 5 officers just for this area. Times have changed and no doubt
will continue to change, however with the assistance of Dean and his family I hope you still feel well looked after.
I look forward to continuing to work with you and for you
and I thank you for your continuing support.
Regards, Steve.
