Chairman’s Report June 2009

The council are wanting to build on the success of the planters along the main road. To that end two nets of mixed daffodils have been ordereds, one for Penley and one for Bettisfield, to brightened up other areas of the villages next spring. It was also thought that although Penley has several mature trees it would be a good idea to plant more for the future. The council will look further into this in the coming months.

The council were very disappointed to receive the resignation of the clerk Helen Morgan. She has given outstanding service over the past 5 years and will be sorely missed. If you are interested in applying for the position, which is paid, or would like more information about it, contact Helen via this website or directly.

POLICE WARNING

Dear All,

I have recently received information from West Mercia Police that they are currently experiencing a new trend in theft from motor vehicles.

It would appear that the offender/s are targeting Childs Car Seats which are left in vehicles overnight, I understand that these are quite expensive items and I would suggest that they are being stolen and then subsequently sold on.

Could I ask everyone to forward this e-mail to anyone who may benefit from this advice, also if you know any neighbour / local residents that leave car seats in their vehicles overnight I`m sure they would appreciate the warning.

To date we have not had any similar thefts, and with your help we won`t have any in the near future.

Clearly I would suggest that no items of value are left in any vehicle and all vehicles are locked when unattended.

Your help in this matter would be most appreciated.
Regards,
Luke
